The Puptides terms of service
These are the terms between you and Puptides when you browse the site, keep a Pet Passport, join the community, or order from the shop. The short version: our products are supplied for research use, nothing here is veterinary medical advice or a diagnosis, you must be an adult, and your own vet stays in charge of your pet's care.
This document is a working draft provided for the operator; have qualified legal counsel review it before relying on it. Bracketed [placeholders] mark decisions the operator still needs to make.
1 Who we are, and your agreement with us
Puptides at puptides.eu is operated by [legal entity name, company number, registered address] ("Puptides", "we"). By using the site — browsing, creating a Pet Passport, posting in the community, or placing an order — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and is part of the picture too, though it is a separate document.
2 Research use only — not veterinary medical advice
This is the clause that frames everything else, so it comes first and in full:
- Puptides products are supplied for research purposes. They are not veterinary medicinal products, and we make no claim that they diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease in any animal.
- Nothing on this site — product pages, evidence tiers, club plans, quiz results, community posts, or anything the Pet Passport shows you — is veterinary medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation. The research pages summarise published literature; the tiers are our honest reading of how strong that literature is, not an approval status.
- The Pet Passport is an observational logging tool, not a medical device. It records what you type in and computes simple statistics from it. It does not detect, alert, diagnose or advise.
- Your own veterinarian stays in charge. Decisions about your dog's or cat's health belong with you and a licensed vet who has actually examined your animal. Talk to your vet before, during and after anything you research here.
- You are responsible for making sure your purchase and intended use are lawful where you live. Rules on research compounds and their use in animals differ between countries, and we cannot judge them for you.
3 Adults only
You must be 18 years or older to use Puptides, keep a Pet Passport, or place an order. By using the site you confirm that you are. The site is not directed at children.
4 Your Pet Passport
- Give a real email address — it is your sign-in name and where order receipts go.
- Your Passport is device-local. It is stored in your browser's local storage, does not sync between devices, and is deleted if you clear your browser's site data. We hold no copy and cannot restore it. (Details in the privacy policy.)
- Password honesty: the current Passport is an early version and its password protection is basic obfuscation, not bank-grade security. Do not reuse a password you use anywhere important.
- Keep it truthful and yours. Log your own pets, keep your credentials to yourself, and don't impersonate anyone else.
- We may suspend or restrict access for accounts used to abuse the site (see acceptable use).
5 Orders, prices and payment
- Prices are shown in euros (€) and may change; the price at the moment you place your order is the one that applies. [Operator: confirm whether displayed prices include VAT and state it here.]
- Placing an order is an offer to buy. Our confirmation email accepts it. We may decline or cancel an order where we reasonably suspect abuse or fraud, where a product is unavailable, or where there has been an obvious pricing error — in which case anything you paid for the cancelled part is refunded.
- Payment, where live payment is enabled, is handled by Stripe, a dedicated payment processor. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Order emails (your receipt, dispatch updates) are sent to the email address on your Pet Passport session, so keep it accurate.
- Discreet packaging is available at checkout and does what it says — plain outer packaging with no product naming.
6 Subscriptions and delivery cadence
- Subscription orders repeat at the cadence you pick at checkout (30, 45 or 60 days).
- You can pause or cancel at any time before the next dispatch; pausing keeps your plan and pricing, cancelling ends it. [Operator: confirm the exact cut-off — e.g. "up to 48 hours before dispatch" — and the self-service path once live billing exists.]
- We will tell you by email before a recurring charge if the price of your subscription changes, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
7 Delivery
- "Dispatched in 24 hours" is our dispatch aim for in-stock items on working days — it is when your parcel leaves us, not a guaranteed delivery date. Carrier transit times are added on top.
- We ship to [operator: list the countries served]. Delivery costs and estimated times are shown at checkout.
- Risk in the goods passes to you when you (or someone you nominated) receive them. If a parcel arrives damaged or does not arrive, contact us and we will put it right.
8 Cancellations, returns and your statutory rights
- 14-day withdrawal right: as an EU consumer you may withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason, and receive a refund. To exercise it, email us (see contact) within the period.
- Exception for unsealed vials: under EU distance-selling rules, the withdrawal right can be lost for sealed goods which are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed. Vials returned unopened and sealed remain returnable. [Counsel: confirm the exact scope of this exception for these products in the operating jurisdiction.]
- Faulty or not-as-described goods are covered by your legal conformity guarantee under EU consumer law — we will repair, replace or refund as the law provides.
- Our voluntary guarantee: where we advertise a guarantee (such as the 60-day guarantee shown on the site), it is in addition to — and never limits — your statutory rights. [Operator: define the 60-day guarantee's exact terms — what qualifies, proof, and remedy — before publishing.]
9 Community rules
The community exists so owners can compare notes honestly. To keep it useful:
- Share experience, not prescriptions. "Here's what we observed with our dog" is welcome; telling another owner what to give their animal, or presenting yourself as giving veterinary advice when you are not that pet's vet, is not.
- Be respectful. No harassment, hate, spam, or commercial solicitation.
- Post only what is yours to post — no other people's personal details, no content that infringes someone else's rights.
- You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive licence to display it on the site as part of the community. You can ask us to remove your posts.
- We may moderate — removing content or restricting accounts that break these rules, with judgement rather than malice.
10 Acceptable use of the site
You agree not to:
- break the law, or use the site to help anyone else break it;
- probe, scan, overload or otherwise attack the site or the services behind it;
- scrape the site at scale or resell its content or data;
- misrepresent who you are, or place orders you do not intend to honour;
- use the shop or community to make medicinal claims for research products.
11 Our content
The Puptides name, logo, design, text, product write-ups and research summaries are ours or our licensors'. You may read, link to and quote the site fairly (with attribution); you may not copy it wholesale or pass it off as your own. The published studies we link to belong to their respective publishers and authors — we link to them precisely so you can read the originals.
12 Disclaimers
- The site and the Pet Passport are provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep them accurate and running, but we do not promise they will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Results vary from pet to pet. Research summaries describe studies, not promises about your animal. Weight loss in cats and dogs should always be slow and monitored by a vet.
- Community posts are their authors' views, not ours, and are not verified by us.
- Because the Passport is device-local, we cannot restore Passport data you lose by clearing your browser or changing devices.
- Nothing in this section limits the statutory rights EU consumer law gives you.
13 Liability
- We do not exclude or limit liability where the law does not allow it — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory product-liability and consumer protection law.
- Beyond that, we are liable for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence; for ordinary negligence, our liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. [Counsel: adapt this clause to the governing jurisdiction's standard — this framing follows common EU consumer-contract practice and must be verified.]
- We are not liable for losses caused by your own breach of these terms, by unlawful use of research products, or by decisions made without the involvement of a veterinarian.
14 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example when live payment, new delivery countries or new features launch. The current version always lives at this page with its effective date at the top. For material changes that affect active subscriptions or orders, we will notify you by email in advance, and continuing to use the site after the change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
15 Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of [operator/counsel: insert governing law and jurisdiction]. If you are a consumer in the EU, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your home courts where the law allows. You can also raise a complaint with your national consumer protection authority. We would always rather fix a problem directly — talk to us first.
